The Safety and Security Systems Group, based in University Park, IL is a division of Federal Signal Corporation, a $900M company. This division designs and manufactures a suite of products and integrated solutions for municipal, governmental and industrial customers.
We are currently seeking a JD Edwards Business Analyst – Manufacturing to join our team at University Park, IL.
Typical duties for this position would include:
- Provide support for the integration and implementation of all Federal Signal Business Units.
- Participate in system upgrades by assisting in planning and testing those upgrades.
- Gain an understanding of the customers’ operations and how systems are used in support of their operations, transferring knowledge to users, programmers and IT support personnel.
- Keep abreast of new JDE releases and applications and present opportunities for improvement to the business units.
- Determine functional requirements and recommends workable JDE solutions to management and staff.
- Develop new, or modifies existing software solutions to satisfy ongoing company business needs. Participate in preparation of the business cases including project charter, cost justification, AFE paperwork, 3rd-party package selection recommendations and other documents as needed.
- Develop reports from the system as needed
- Assist other programmers and analysts in the development and implementation of new programs and systems.
- Update and add new training to the UPK training tool.
- Monitor the integrity of the JD Edwards system for Federal Signal.
- Assist Business Units by training and teaching on site employees the JD Edwards system processes and procedures.
- Conduct training for new users (as needed). Provide one-on-one or small group refresher / intermediate / advanced training as required by users.
- Respond to Help Desk requests in a timely fashion
- Work with users to enhance and/or develop new systems and techniques to more efficiently help them do their job, including initiating or facilitating kaizen events.
- Execute approved changes to task menus to enhance end user functionality.

Responsible for:
- Developing and monitoring procedures and guidelines for the division’s financial organization.
- Monitoring individual plant closings to ensure the following of proper cost accounting procedures; working with the plant controllers to continue standardization of monthly closings.
- Ensuring raw materials, finished goods, and storeroom physical inventories are being taken and documented; tracking and reconciling various inventory transactions.
- Working with the manufacturing plants to develop financial statements for re-forecasts, the annual operating plan, strategic plan, and other requested analyses.Â
- Supplying appropriate schedules to complete the monthly performance review package; preparing monthly analyses and reports for manufacturing plants, division, and corporate management.
- Assisting in implementation and training for plant financial and administrative systems; utilizing fully integrated ERP and accounting systems to record and analyze business transactions.
- Analyzing monthly balance sheets and explaining any unusual variances.
- Providing cash and accounts receivable transactions support for joint venture operations.
- Performing and/or maintaining reconciliations of various balance sheet accounts; processing transactions and performing account reconciliations for brokered inventory.
Requirements:Â
- Broad training in a related field; prefer BA/BS in accounting or related field of study.
- CPA/CMA preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years job related experience required. Â Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Knowledge of standard cost accounting principles in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office products, especially in Excel.
- Experience using an ERP system required. JD Edwards experience preferred.
- Ability to effectively interact with customers, consistently satisfying customer’s requests.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with both plant and corporate contacts.
- Open to relocation.
Travel:Â This position requires up to 25% travel.
Relocation Assistance is not available; position is located in Broomfield, Colorado.
