Clearwater Paper Corporation is seeking an

Assistant Controller

at their Consumer Products facility in Neenah, Wisconsin.

 

The Assistant Controller’s role is to coordinate mill financial/accounting activities related to month-end closes, annual budgets, forecasts, and capital expenditure evaluations. Supports mill management by providing sound financial analysis, advice and council to help ensure optimization of business results.  Helps support activities of workers concerned with ordering, receiving, storing, inventorying, shipping and issuing related activities. 

 

Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related business major
  • 3-5 years of related experience in costing in a manufacturing setting desired
  • Significant financial analytical experience
  • Extensive Excel and Microsoft Office knowledge
  • Understanding of ERP systems
  • Experience with JD Edwards a plus
  • Thorough knowledge of general and cost accounting principals
  • Strong organization and time management skills to meet scheduled deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

    Summary of Position: Associate Business Consultant in the Deltek Consulting group to provide business consulting services for Deltek clients. Associate participates in hands-on technical engagements to ensure smooth deployments of Maconomy software. Associate Technical Consultant displays a basic understanding of underlying technologies of Maconomy applications and works through an implementation team with clients on business processes and considerations to meet business goals, including budget and performance targets. Associate Business Consultant contributes to the development and enhancement of consulting delivery methods, techniques, processes, and practices. Professional development is focused on advanced product and technical knowledge, specialty or subject matter expertise, team leadership and client relationship management. This position is a revenue generating position and a 100% client-facing role that requires international, nationwide or regional travel as needed.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Under specific direction, partners with Deltek implementation team by providing business functional support to clients, applying Deltek project and consulting methods and processes. With direct supervision, determines work priorities in accordance with project plans, project schedules, changing work demands and Deltek policies and practices.
  • Researches routine work and customer issues and circumstances and provides detail and preliminary recommendations to project lead (or designated representative).
  • Limited analytical and technical thinking within one’s own area of responsibility.
  • Acquires knowledge of one Deltek product. Learns and develops Deltek consulting, technical and implementation skills. Learns and develops a working knowledge of customer industries. Works collaboratively and builds relationships with other consultants, customer staff and third- party consultants.
  • Assists the Deltek consulting team in ensuring client requirements are met by responding to questions and assisting with issue resolution. Keeps Project Manager (or designated representative) informed of the status of work/projects, problem areas, customer satisfaction and potential services opportunities via regular status reporting. Primarily communicates with immediate Deltek and client peers, project management team, and Deltek management.
  • Maintains consulting biography and individual competency data. Manages administrative tasks including weekly time sheets, Consultant Progress Report, and expense reports in a timely, complete, and accurate manner.
     

      Education & Experience:

    • Consulting experience of less than 18 months
    • Business/industry experience: 0-2 years
    • B.A./B.S. or equivalent work experience or business and/or product knowledge comparable to six-year degree in a related area
    • Experienced with all aspects of Microsoft Office products
    • Relevant experience and industry preferences: Cost Accounting, Project Accounting, Resource Management, ERP or Management Consultant, Marketing Agency, Tax & Audit Firm
    • Possess evidence of the ability to develop best practices, guides and processes as it applies to business practices
    • Other relevant ERP experience preferred: SAP, BAAN, Oracle Financials, PeopleSoft, Timberline, Jamis, JD Edwards, Solomon, Lawson, Advantage, Sema4, FMS, Microsoft Dynamics, Great Plains, Peachtree, Clearview, Elite
       

        Other Competencies:

      • Successful candidate will possess written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate across all layers of an organization
      • Ability to work and influence across groups is essential
      • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
      • Ability to work with ambiguous requirements; flexibility in scheduling and tasking
      • Strong teamwork skills, facilitation skills and client-facing abilities
      • Strong working knowledge of Java scripting preferred

        • B.A./B.S. or equivalent work experience or technical and/or product knowledge comparable to six-year degree in a related area
        • Basic technical skills in large scale Enterprise Application\Server development
        • Basic technical skills in database design
        • Experience with an object oriented high-level language such as C# / C++, Java, ASP.Net and with a broad range of development and analytical skills. Or, M-scripting the Maconomy proprietary language
        • Experience with Java language skills a must
        • Experience with Business Objects Web Intelligence and/or Xcelsius preferred
        • SQL Server or Oracle database experience
        • Experience with MAC OS preferred
        • Understanding of Windows Server (NT, 2000, 2003, 2008) configuration
        • Experience troubleshooting Database and ERP application issues
        • Other relevant ERP experience preferred: SAP, BAAN, Oracle Financials, PeopleSoft, Timberline, Jamis, JD Edwards, Solomon, Lawson, Advantage, Sema4, FMS, Microsoft Dynamics, Great Plains, Peachtree, Clearview, Elite

            Our client is one of the fastest growing corporations in the consumer products market. Due to promotions, client is looking for a cost analyst.


            This person will be responsible for various aspects of cost accounting including:
                   -forecasting and analysis of manufacturing costs 
                   -leading productivity idea generation review/assist in the write-up of capital projects 
                   -supporting new product commercialization.
                   -leading standard cost model building 
                   -forecasting and analysis of Variable, Fixed and Distribution Costs
             
            Client offers opportunity for advancement within the facility in Michigan or promotion to roles in other locations of the corporation.
