- Working in the corporate office, prepare, review and file sales and use tax returns and payments.
- Prepare monthly tax account reconciliations, provide sales and use tax audit and special projects support, respond to notices and questions from company personnel, develop and maintain efficient compliance processes and research tax compliance issues with respect to purchasing decisions and advise company personnel accordingly.
- Provide analytical and technical support as needed to implement tax savings opportunities, review and advise regarding tax adjustments for customers, and review sales tax exemption certificates and other supporting documentation received from customers as requested by operating personnel.
- Support and test accounting systems changes that impact sales tax decisions/reporting and apply for and maintain all sales and use tax registrations.

AJG Corporate Systems (CS) provides global financial applications development and support for AJG’s Finance and Accounting departments, including compliance for legal and audit. AJG CS also includes an enterprise level Business Intelligence (BI) Competency Center (BICC) to provide expertise for management analysis, reporting and planning technologies and solutions. AJG CS core solutions are comprised of Oracle/JD Edwards ERP/Finance, Cognos and Sharepoint applications in addition to number of integrated third party and internal package solutions.Â
Position Summary
Â
The Senior Business Analyst – Cognos is responsible for working with various business departments to understand business issues and data challenges specific to the corporate organization. This role will articulate these challenges and make certain that IT delivers solutions that resolve these concerns. In addition, this position will work closely with other IT groups and AJG businesses establishing Business Intelligence initiatives that are designed and implemented to support overall business and IT goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Â
- Directs, prepares, designs, codes, tests, debugs, and maintains complex computer programs
- Under general direction, formulates and defines system scope and objectives
- Works with users to support business applications, and investigate operational problems/system requirements
- Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results
- Prepares detailed specifications from which programs will be written
- Designs, codes, tests, debugs, and documents those programs
- May be responsible for completion of a phase of a project
- Solves user inquiries that arise during day-to-day operation
- Regularly provides coaching, guidance and training to less-experienced analysts/programmers
Additional Job Duties/Considerations:
- Prioritize BI needs based on assessments with the business
- Assist in the development of Reporting and Analytics roadmaps
- Document, review and edit requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations related to a proposed solution.Â
- Translate business requirements into technical requirements and communicate needed changes to development teamsÂ
- Assist with the development of functional specifications and system design specifications for business areasÂ
- Lead BI projects following the established PMO processÂ
- Perform testing to validate accuracy and validity of reports and data integrity – use manual SQL to validate to Data Warehouse and other data sources as needed
- Develop test scripts and plans and lead testing efforts
- Design and develop data warehousing applications using SQL, Cognos BI tools
- Develop and support BI reporting packages and ad hoc analysis;
- Design, author and support BI reports using Cognos 8.X Report and Query Studios
- Assist Cognos Architect team with Data Warehouse structure, ETL, Framework Model and reporting portal changes to support user report and analysis requirements
- Ensure scheduled reports run within user expectations (performance, timing)
- Initiate dialog with business areas to develop an understanding of their reporting needs and gaps
- Quickly frame the business issues and data challenges for business areasÂ
- Identify strengths and weaknesses in reporting design plans and suggest areas of improvementÂ
- Ensure issues are identified and resolved in a timely manner
- Assist support team with day-to-day trouble tickets that tier 2 is unable to resolve
- Assist the business in identifying required changes to existing reports and analyticsÂ
- Coordinate efforts of local/offshore Cognos development, testing and support resources
- Ensure key Service Level Agreements (SLA) are met
- Provide user training in BI reporting tools and reports as needed

Our client in the Northern Suburbs is looking for an Accountant who will be responsible for monitoring inventory adjustments and write offs to assure proper accounting and controls are maintained. Additionally, they will be responsible for facilitating physical inventories and documenting inventory processes.
• Facilitate physical inventories for the client.
• Monitor inventory adjustments and write-offs to assure proper accounting and controls are maintained.
• Reconcile Inventory and Reserve accounts to the general ledger.
• Maintain accurate procedures & documentation for inventory reporting.
• Month-end close and account reconciliation
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and strong Excel skills required. JD Edwards experience a plus.Â
